Abstract

Drawing on the latest insights from social innovation research, the course combines academic excellence with a commitment to fostering an environment that values diversity and equal opportunities. In addition to traditional academic teachings, the curriculum emphasizes practical learnings from our network of socially-focused organizations worldwide, with a specific focus on addressing social and gender disparities. Participants will be encouraged to think critically about the impact of their initiatives on various communities and to incorporate and manage principles of equity into their projects. As part of the entrepreneurial ventures with social goals, participants will learn not only how to design, launch, and scale-up successful projects but also how to ensure that these initiatives contribute to social and gender equity.

Core courses will go beyond basic managerial skills to instill the values of inclusivity and diversity in leadership, preparing students to be effective advocates for social change. Real consulting and social innovation design projects will be guided by a commitment to addressing gender disparities and promoting social equity. These projects will provide participants with the opportunity to gain professional experience while contributing to the development of entrepreneurial skills, being aware of social and gender implications of their work.

The course will incorporate a gender-sensitive approach, encouraging participants to explore and understand the unique challenges faced by different communities, particularly in the context of gender roles and expectations. Guided by experienced partners deeply rooted in communities, students will critically analyze the root causes of social problems, taking into account specific social, economic and political contexts, and design solutions that are not only effective, but also promote social and gender equity.
