The programme integrates the concept of social and gender equity into social entrepreneurial venturing, recognizing the importance of inclusive and fair practices in social innovation. The course will explore the intersectionality of social issues, incorporating perspectives from management, social psychology, sociology, economics, and anthropology to provide a holistic understanding of the challenges at hand. Special attention will be given to analysing how these challenges manifest differently in various social, economic, and political contexts, with a keen awareness of the gender-specific dimensions of these issues.
Social sciences and humanities
Drawing on the latest insights from social innovation research, the course combines academic excellence with a commitment to fostering an environment that values diversity and equal opportunities. In addition to traditional academic teachings, the curriculum emphasizes practical learnings from our network of socially-focused organizations worldwide, with a specific focus on addressing social and gender disparities. Participants will be encouraged to think critically about the impact of their initiatives on various communities and to incorporate and manage principles of equity into their projects. As part of the entrepreneurial ventures with social goals, participants will learn not only how to design, launch, and scale-up successful projects but also how to ensure that these initiatives contribute to social and gender equity.
The course will incorporate a gender-sensitive approach, encouraging participants to explore and understand the unique challenges faced by different communities, particularly in the context of gender roles and expectations. Guided by experienced partners deeply rooted in communities, students will critically analyze the root causes of social problems, taking into account specific social, economic and political contexts, and design solutions that are not only effective, but also promote social and gender equity. |
